Amanda Lauren Watson is the 20 yea old daughter of Butch and Barbara Watson of Raleigh, NC. She is currently a junior at the University of North Carolina At Chapel Hill, pursuing a Bachelor of  Music degree with a concentration in education. Amanda will continue her education as she pursues her master’s degree in hopes of eventually teaching at the collegiate level.

Amanda is an active advocate for the ALS Association, serving people living with “Lou Gehrig’s “ disease. She has been named a national spokesperson for her work with the association and has traveled to Washington D.C., both in 2006 and 2007, to speak with Senators Richard Burr and Elizabeth Dole, as well as local representatives, such as Representative David Price, concerning the allocation of more ALS funding.  Having lost two members of her family to the disease, Amanda is dedicated to the fight against ALS.  Most recently, her efforts to help persuade Congress to pass the ALS Registry Act and allocate more funding through the Department of Defense have helped to provide ALS patients and their families with the care they need in an effective manner.

She is proud to represent the town of Garner and is thrilled to spend this year serving the Miss Garner Organization, the community, and the people who make this wonderful experience possible!
